Use Phone or Tablet as a Fire TV Remote
You can use your phone or tablet as a remote for all of the Fire TVs in your home. This is helpful if you lost the remote, the dog ate your remote, or your remote just isn't working. Beyond acting as a remote, with the Fire TV app you can also watch live TV or watch your recordings if you are using the Recast DVR with an over-the-air antenna.
- Load the Fire TV app on your phone or tablet
- If you don't already have the app on your phone/tablet, you can download it from the Google Play or Apple App Store
- Make sure the phone or tablet is on the same WiFi network as your Fire TV
- Inside the Fire TV App, select "Remote" at the bottom
- Select the correct Fire TV from the list
- Enter code from TV is you have never done this before
- If you don't see the code and it's not working, you probably selected the wrong Fire TV from the list
